Samsung Galaxy Tab will start to sale 1 November

The company has announced, The Samsung Galaxy Tab will be available to buy in the UK from 1 November. Much-publicized, the new Android-based tablet draws a great deal on Samsung’s popular Galaxy S handset, and is predictable to be the first tablet to gravely challenge the dominance of the Apple iPad.

The manufacturer promises that tariffs will be "attractive". Samsung says, prices, however, will be left to mobile operators.

The software, however, is likely to be the Tab's most popular feature. Android FroYo 2.2 has not been appreciably accustomed, which means that there are few of the problems connected with other operators who have done more harm than good in their bids to get better on Google’s operating system. The Tab also offers access to Apps via the Android Market.

Price, however, will be crucial to the Tab's accomplishment; the simplicity and data tariffs of billing will be big hurdles.

Nintendo 3DS hand-held cheer up-- the suggested retail price of 25,000 yen (around £189)

The Nintendo 3DS hand-held cheer up, which allows players to view 3D images without the need for special glasses, will launch in Japan in February 26, 2011 and will be sold at the suggested retail price of 25,000 yen (around £189).

Nintendo made the announcement at the Nintendo 2010 Conference in Japan, during which it also unveiled a number of new features for the 3DS console. The Nintendo 3DS will be launched in two colours, Aqua Blue and Cosmos Black and will include a 2GB SD storage card, a recharging cradle and 6AR cards.

The Nintendo 3DS comes equipped with two screens –one touch-screen and one 3D screen – a gyro sensor, a motion sensor and analogue pad and a 3D depth slider so players can toggle between 2D and 3D screen settings. The device also has two cameras which allow its user to take 3D pictures.

The Nintendo 3DS was unveiled earlier this year at E3 in Los Angeles at Nintendo's keynote briefing, which also saw the developer announce a planned list of launch titles for the device, by both Nintendo and third party developers. Electronic Arts announced its first game for the device, My Garden, two weeks ago at the Tokyo Game Show.

Why we’re all improved devoid of a Verizon iPhone

Of course, it may not seem like the best thing for you, individually. You almost certainly want the best smart phone (arguably Apple’s iPhone) on the best U.S. network (Verizon’s) – not the best smart phone on a so-so network or a so-so smart phone on the most excellent network.

On postings all over the Web, you can read the groans over Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg’s admission last week that nothing is in the works to bring the iPhone to Verizon in the anticipated future. iPhone users are stuck with AT&T (T).

Verizon and Sprint (S) have been shut out of the iPhone, they’ve had to look for options to keep its most demanding, highest-revenue customers from migrating over to AT&T.

Android phones are now pretty darn good.

Still, Apple (AAPL) has driven iPhone development hard, memory, improving speed, software, reception – all while driving the price forcefully downward.

The situation has pushed RIM’s Blackberry and H-P’s Palm to improve quickly or risk being driven out of the market.

Eventually, the iPhone will no doubt wind up on Verizon. But, hopefully not for another year or so. Let the competitive market do a little more work to make the phones and networks better. We’ll all benefit.

Eurocopter exposes new look helicopter-- Eurocopter's X3 high-speed helicopter

MARSEILLE, France (Reuters) – European group Eurocopter showed off a ground-breaking winged helicopter on Monday, in a proposition to counter U.S. rival Sikorsky's efforts to break the speed barrier by rewriting rotorcraft design rules.

The half-plane, half-helicopter design aims to overcome constant obstacles to high-speed helicopter flight by combining the advantages of fixed-wing aircraft with those of a standard helicopter -- allowing it to fly at 220 knots or 400 km/hour.

The move by the world's largest civil helicopter maker came less than two weeks after United Technologies unit Sikorsky claimed an unofficial speed record of 250 knots (460 km/hour) with its own avant-garde prototype called X2.

The X3 hybrid helicraft -- which combines forward-facing propellers astride two short aircraft wings with the familiar overhead rotor blades seen on any normal helicopter -- was exposed following months of secrecy.

Today's helicopters typically cruise around 130-40 knots.

Eurocopter, part of European aerospace group EADS, said its X3 hoverplane, sporting black-and-white striped propellers, had first flown on September 6 at a closely watched over military test base.

"We just wanted a place where we knew we were alone, no plane spotters," Eurocopter chief executive Lutz Bertling told Reuters, adding Eurocopter had paid the French defense ministry for the right to use army facilities even though the project was so far funded entirely out of the company's research budget.

The BlackBerry PlayBook: RIM uncovers a tablet

CEO Mike Lazaridis showed off the long-rumored device during the keynote of RIM’s BlackBerry developer conference in San Francisco on Monday. In its place of the "BlackPad" (ugh), RIM is calling its 7-inch, camera-packing tablet the BlackBerry PlayBook.

RIM says its new tablet will arrive in the U.S. in early 2011 and in overseas markets in the second quarter of next year. No pricing details yet.

The 7-inch display — the same size as that on the just-announced Samsung Galaxy Tab — will boast a resolution of 1024 by 600, and yes, it’s a capacitive multitouch display, good for such multi-finger gestures as punching and zooming.

Expect a 0.9-pound tablet that’s 9.7mm (or 0.4 inch) thick, complete with (as rumored) a pair of cameras: 3MP lens in front, and a 5-megapixel camera in the back both capable of recording HD video — nice.

The PlayBook will arrive with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, with both 3G and 4G (yep, 4G) versions coming "in the future," according to RIM. The PlayBook will also connect to a nearby BlackBerry via Bluetooth for viewing e-mail, to-do items, calendar or contacts — meaning, presumably, that you’ll be able to tap out messages on the PlayBook and fire them off from your handheld BlackBerry.

The Sony Ericsson XperiaX1- Cell Phone

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 features an interactive panel interface that lets you customize the smartphone to your needs and wants.

Without U.S.-carrier backing, the Xperia X1 has an exorbitant price tag. The navigation controls are difficult to use, and the Web browsing experience wasn't the greatest.

The Windows Mobile device has an attractive design and a full QWERTY keyboard.

It’s a well-designed and fully stocked smartphone that offers great customization through the interactive panel interface.

When it rains, it pours. The Xperia X1 made headlines for being the company's first Windows Mobile device and for its interactive panel interface. It was such a showstopper that we barely got a look at the smartphone because of the swarms of audience.
